3 Simple Ways To Help Build Emotional Health
Being emotionally healthy has enormous benefits, yet it’s something we don’t really give much thought to. Emotional health determines how well we deal with adversity, and how well we manage the tough situations in life that we’ll all inevitably face. Unfortunately, we don’t know how strong our emotional health really is until it’s tested.
Relationship problems, medical issues, job loss, or any situation that we find difficult, can test our emotional fortitude. People with a strong emotional well-being are not afraid to face challenges because they know that they’ll come out on the other side unscathed or at least with very little damage.
The good news is that anyone can build up and strengthen their emotional health. You just need to know how to start.
Here are 3 simple ways that anyone can do to help build emotional strength:
-
Take care of yourself
Emotionally strong people know how important it is to take care of themselves. Self-care has become more important today than ever before for good reason. As life gets busier and seemingly more demanding, it’s important to make our well-being a priority.

Self-care can be as simple as going for a walk, taking a long soak in the bath, or reading a good book with a nice cup of tea or glass of wine. Just do something you enjoy and you’ll be recharging your emotional batteries without even knowing it.
-
Write it down
Get out of your head by writing things down. Putting pen to paper as often as possible has enormous benefits because not only does it allow you to empty out all the annoying thoughts that have been running through your head, but it can also help you find solutions to the problems you’re trying to resolve.
List makers know the benefits of writing things down, and many of us write out the pros and cons to help make an important decision. Keep a journal and you’ll be amazed how far you’ve come when you look back at past entries.

Learn to meditate
Mediation has been scientifically proven to reduce stress and improve cognitive abilities as well as strengthen emotional health. If you think meditation is too “woo-woo” for you, mindfulness meditation is definitely the one to try.
Learning to meditate may seem a little intimidating at first especially if you’ve never been exposed to it before, but it can be as simple as sitting in silence for five minutes and focusing on your breath. There are many forms of meditation and it’s worth looking into which one works for you.
Guided meditation is not only a fabulous introduction to meditation but also falls into the self-care category. If you haven’t tried it, here’s a lovely 5-minute meditation that will guide you through a complete body relaxation exercise that will leave you as relaxed as a puddle of mud!
When you incorporate meditation into your daily routine, you’ll start noticing that the little things that used to irritate, no longer bother you. You’ll be able to pause before reacting negatively to situations and you’ll gain a greater sense of peace.
